Dr Tom
I am a school nurse working in Glasgow. I have been working with a child who has been taken out of a Primary mainstream school due to ongoing behaviour problems.
The long term plan is that the child will return to the mainstream school.
The child's mother had a drug addiction during pregnancy.
The Head Teacher of the school is planning to apply for funding for Omega 3 for the child for one year.
Do you think the child may benefit from this and if so can you offer any advice. |

Norma,
the child will definately benefit from this if they are deficient. It is very likely that they will be but knowing what dose to use depends on the extent of the deficiency. This can be determined by a blood test which is only available in the private sector and costs around £100. We can arrange this at The Essential Health Clinic www.essentialhealthclinic.com which is newly opened in Rutherglen.
There may well be a fatty acid deficiency relating back to the foetal environment. Correcting such a deficiency is the fundamental objective of using omega 3 although in many cases there is much left to do after this.
