My son suffers from acne and seems to have tried an assortment of creams and nothing has proved effective. What would you suggest he do?

Thanks

Thomas

I would recommend a diet low in refined carbohydrates and sugary drinks and sweets. Drink lots of water ( 3 litres daily) and supplement with chromium polynicotinate 400mcg daily and omega 3 , 2 x MorEPA or equivalent. This will reduce insulin levels which cause a build up of grease in the skin and reduce inflammation of acne.
Standard medical treatments are to use long term antibiotics which has a determental effect on the gut bacteria and so the immune system or to use the very powerful vitamin A derivative Roccautane which has serious side effects. I would definately try the natural approach for a good three months first.

DR. I wanna know if there's any age restriction when acne stops as my local Dr said it will finish after twenties so, I m asking for a 2nd opinion, I have this prb even feels pain in cheeks somtimes coz of pimples.

Also lemme know if acne attacks differ if skin is oily/dry ? as well as in market there are so many prodcuts claimed to prevent pimples like toners, scrubs, face wash & many creams,, wut do u recomend if its safe to use or should avoid ??

Dani,
there is no age limit for acne vulgaris although this is commoner in adolescene. Adults often have acne rosea which is associated with general redness of the skin and easy flushing, as well as the classic spots.
Oily skin is over production sebum which is more likely to lead to pore blockage and so commodome (black head) production.
Some creams block pores and can cause acne. I advise a change of diet ( see earlier post) as well as omega 3 and chromium supplements.
