Dr Tom
On your website under the MS subject you mention Meditation and how you feel it has its place in therapy.
I am considering learning more and more about this, but find my friends are quite sceptical and think it is all mumbo jumbo.
Do you use meditation yourself and if so what benefits do you find from it.
Thanks

James,
I do meditate and would strongly recommend it to everyone. Even just sitting quietly for twenty minutes and ventilating your thoughts can be very useful. Meditation sounds a bit "new age" but infact almost every religion includes some meditation as a central part of the religion.
It is a skill however and practice is required.
If you find it too difficult you may want to try listening to a hypnosis CD. Paul McKenna's book "How to change your life in 7 days" has a CD as part of the book and it is fantastic. Worth the £9.99 on its own but the book is also very good.
I would also strongly recommend "How to Meditiate" by Paul Roland published by Chancellor Press as a simple and easy guide for beginners to meditation. The reduction in stress and increase in energy you will experience is hard to believe to those who have never tried it.

Anyone seriously interested in meditation might like to take a look at these people.

I'm not associated with them in any way. Just use their stuff and have to say it's pretty good. Their science seems to be credible in the use of sound to lower brainwave activity to a meditative level.
A little expensive though!! |
